YEI Associates

At the discretion of the YEI staff,YEI student ventures may receive short-term assistance from a small and highly select team of graduate & professional school students with relevant business experience:

SOMYEI Associates from the Yale School of Management provide business planning, financial modeling, and strategy assistance.  Candidates must have extremely strong financial analysis, consulting, or marketing strategy skills and at least five years of relevant work experience. Associates are engaged primarily during the academic year (Sept through May).              

Wei Peng
Wei Peng is a first year MBA student at Yale School of Management. Prior to Yale SOM, Wei worked successively at Booz & Company and Monitor Group as senior management consultant. Among his engagement experiences, Wei advised many top global players in the healthcare, consumer goods and technology industries on business plans and marketing strategies. He also developed expertise in due diligence and investment decisions while working for leading private equity firms. With a passion in venture and entrepreneurship, Wei would like to leverage his past experience and expertise to help Yale students realize their creative business ideas.

Ning Zhang
Ning Zhang is a first-year MBA student at Yale School of Management.  Prior to coming to Yale, he worked for five years in the investment banking and corporate finance sectors in Singapore.  His work ranged from arranging syndicated loans to advising on mergers and acquisitions.  His experience included project-based assignments in the industries of infrastructure, material science, real estate, mining, and construction.  Ning earned a bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering with First Class Honors from National University of Singapore in 2006.

Nicholas Bagg
Nicholas Bagg is a first year MBA candidate at the Yale School of Management.  He has experience in the advertising and marketing industries and is an advisor to numerous startups.  Prior to attending Yale, Nicholas received a Master of Finance degree from Loyola College in Maryland and a Master of Applied Economics degree from The Johns Hopkins University.  While an undergraduate at Loyola, he led both the Adam Smith Economics Society and Club Badminton.  Nicholas lives in New Haven with his wonderful wife, Patricia, and his rambunctious dog, Starscream.

Nora Mueller-Alten
Nora Mueller-Alten is a 1st year MBA candidate at Yale School of Management (SOM), where she is also a Co-Chair of the Entrepreneurship Club and the Women in Management Club.

Prior to Yale SOM, she was a Consultant at the Boston Consulting Group in Munich and New York, where she worked mostly in the health care industry. During her time at BCG she advised pharmaceutical companies on product launches and pricing, conducted a due diligence for a merger in the medical device space, and helped various clients increase organizational efficiency. Nora holds a Master’s degree in Economics from University of Mannheim, Germany. In her free time she enjoys backpacking and everything that involves high altitudes and the outdoors. 

Simran Dua
After graduating from New York University in 2005, Simran's professional journey began at JPMorgan, where she had the opportunity to work in Private Wealth Management, Emerging Markets, and Public Finance Investment Banking. During the credit crisis, she resigned to support a family member's fledgling company. Once the organization was fully operational, Simran took off on an adventure through South America, which included camping in Patagonia, exploring caves on Easter Island, and volcano climbing in Chile. After six months of showering with flip flops on, she returned to New York ready to start a new chapter which began as a Fellow in the StartingBloc Institute, a program that educates, inspires and connects emerging leaders to drive social innovation across sectors. Inspired and rejuvenated from South America and the fellowship program, Simran's next professional goal was to understand the power of consumerism and the shift to make socially conscious purchase decisions. She spent the last two years at Unilever focusing on consumer research, ecommerce, and social media analytics. In addition to being a YEI Associate, Simran serves on the Yale Graduate and Professional Student Senate and is a member of the Net Impact, Women in Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship Clubs.  Simran is an aspiring golfer, outdoors enthusiast, and dedicated recipe tester (and taster).

Joseph Nagle
Joe Nagle is student at the Yale School of Management and a YEI Associate for the year 2012-2013. His interests include the practice of design (including web, graphic, brand, interface, packaging, and product design), UX/UI, HCI, general brand strategy, and innovation consulting. His previous employers include a Madison Avenue advertising agency, the William J. Clinton Foundation, and the World Economic Forum. He graduated magna cum laude from Brown University.

Apoorv Jain
Apoorv started his career with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, where he worked closely with the VP, Finance and Strategy. He spent significant time in Europe, where he managed projects to develop market-entry and product launch strategy, provided solutions to improve the operational efficiency of the Europe business, and created metrics for financial analytics. Later, he joined the Life Sciences Practice at Grail Research (previously of Monitor Group). He worked on projects with leading pharmaceutical, medical devices and insurance companies, covering a broad spectrum of health topics, including cardiac and neurological disorders, oncology, medical devices, and healthcare delivery. Prior to Yale, he ventured into medical tourism and co-founded AADI MediTour – a healthcare advisory offering services to patients seeking medical treatment in India. Within 2 years, his company managed to grow to a team of 15 members, develop a network of 1000+ doctors and 35+ hospitals, and serve 600+ patients from a dozen countries saving more than $500k patient costs. The company is still operational and effectively working towards curbing healthcare costs.

Apoorv completed his chemical engineering, with honors, from Panjab University, Chandigarh and he went on to receive his business management diploma from XLRI Jamshedpur, where he specialized in financial modeling and equity research.

Amit Maheshwari
Amit Maheshwari is a first year MBA candidate at Yale School of Management. Prior to Yale SOM, Amit worked with the Corporate Executive Board in their Gurgaon, India office. During his time there, he was an Associate Director with the CFO program and provided best-in-class solutions for solving CFOs’ Finance Function challenges. Amit holds professional certifications such as CFA, FRM and CS (an Indian certification around Law and Finance). As an associate with YEI, he hopes to put his business and finance skills to use in helping startup companies identify their core value proposition and create detailed financial models to quantify the returns on capital. 

Fion Liu 
Fion (Sha) Liu is a first year MBA candidate at Yale School of Management. Prior to Yale SOM, Fion worked with Mercedes-Benz in Sales & Marketing for four years in China. During her time there, she worked as a product manager for electric cars and e-mobility strategy in China, as well as a project manager for product communication platform. Fion is passionate about commercialization of new technologies, segmentation and launch of avant-garde product, and entrepreneurship in corporate environment. As an associate with YEI, she hopes to leverage her assets in helping Yale ventures to realize their business ambition sooner. Fion (Sha) Liu received her Bachelor of Management degree in Marketing from Peking University in China.
