The panel will discuss developments in personalized medicine. Some of the topics to be explored:
- How has the availability of gene sequencing revolutionized the understanding of disease origin and treatment?
- With the groundbreaking announcement of the $1,000 gene sequencing barrier by Ion Torrent, how soon will the technique be in common clinical use?
- What is the potential for cheaper and faster gene sequencing in the clinic and in science as a whole.
- What are the commercial challenges in the near and mid-term.

Afterwards, there will be discussion of Connecticut's bet on personalized medicine and its effort to move the state to the forefront of 21st century science.
