Miller Prize

The Miller Prize Is About Disruptive Tech.

It’s a $25,000 entrepreneurship prize awarded to the best disruptive tech or tech-enabled service startup from a Yale student. Unlike a lot of entrepreneurship prizes, this one is not aiming to find the startup with the biggest market (although big markets are OK, too). Instead, we’re looking for pure ingenuity—and a high likelihood of adoption.

We’re Calling ALL Departments. This prize is looking for entrepreneurs from ALL parts of the Yale community who have figured out an innovative approach or product. Have you reinvented the violin? Designed an addictive game? Discovered a new way to share music, create interactive art or teach math? Are you building a cool robotic tool? In addition to highlighting the student team, the Miller Prize is designed to showcase the full scope of tech innovation happening across the University.

We’re Here to Help! We will help you figure out how to turn your cool innovation into a startup. If you submit a Letter of Intent by January 30, 2017 you will receive: a special workshop on business fundamentals specifically for tech ventures and expert support in submitting your application.

The Nitty Gritty.

Who Is Eligible: Any current Yale student(s) with a cool idea for a tech startup or tech-enabled service.

Final Application Deadline: March 30, 2017. APPLY HERE

The Process: Four finalists will be selected to present their pitches at the Startup Yale event on April 21, 2017 at Evans Hall. Those finalists will receive pitch training prior to their presentations as well as support from experts at YEI. A panel of judges with tech venture expertise will select one winning venture to receive the $25,000 prize. The winning team will also receive automatic acceptance into the YEI Fellowship, an 8-week summer bootcamp for accelerating ventures with $15,000, mentorship, corporate partners, pitching opportunities and more.
