etouches Web Developer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• To be able to work in a fast paced environment running several pieces of development concurrently and changing priorities as required.
• To liaise with key stakeholders to keep them updated on development progress and issues.
• To take a fresh perspective of the IT landscape and bring new technology to the company.
• The Ideal candidate will also possess the following skills:
• Solid experience of PHP, HTML, XML, SQL and JavaScript. Knowledge of further web technologies such as
• Ruby, iPhone and Blackberry desirable.
• Good analytical problem solving and a solid understanding of designing effective user interfaces.
• Able to converse with internal clients and translate business requirements to system requirements. Ability to read past a brief and future-proof.
• Understanding of Unix/Linux with the ability to manage basic system administration.
• Experience of OOP, MySQL and Ajax.
• Multi-lingual ability is a plus

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years work experience
• College degree or equivalent work experience
• Exposure to the events, mobile or social media industries
• Previous SaaS support experience a plus

Encendia Biochar Internship
 
TITLE: Website Programming Coordinator
 
DESCRIPTION: Encendia Biochar (encendia.com)  is a startup based in New Haven, CT that creates environmentally friendly soil products based on an ancient Amazonian technology. Started by a number of Yale grads, we are launching our retail products, and need some help upping our Website.
 
This position will be responsible for assisting with the design and programming of an updated Encendia website. You'll be interfacing with experienced graphic designers, marketers, and environmental entrepreneurs.

SKILLS:

• experience developing small websites
• strong working knowledge of HTML (preferably HTML5) and CSS a must
• working knowledge of deeper platforms (php, python, rails, etc) a plus but not absolutely required
• ability to work well in a team (The visual design and UI are being developed by a third party design firm that you'll interface with through the development process, as well as working with the core Encendia staff)

 
STIPEND: available
HOURS: ~10 hours per week
DURATION: early October through completion of project
LOCATION: New Haven, CT & remote
